Season 1
In the year 1983 a boy named Will Byers mysteriously goes missing. Even though this story takes place in the boring fictional town of Hawkins Louisiana, during the search for him, his three best friends open a door to a new world they didn't even know existed while they also meet a pretty interesting girl.
Season 2
This season takes a new turn as it takes place in 1984. Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will, Eleven and many more find out how dangerous this world really is. Will they be able to close the gate? We meet three new characters while also meeting an unexpected friend ship. We are also introduced to THREE new couples in this season.

Barb's car
Even though this show was set in 1983, Barb's Volkswagen Cabrio was made in 1988, which means that her car is 5 years to young for this show
Mr. clark's
theory
Mr. Clark's theory is very flawed as if the flea is upside down it is still in the same dimension as the acrobat.
DemagorgOn
Even though this show takes place in 1983 the figurine of the Demogorgon wasn't actually made until 1984
Walkie talkies
The Walkie Talkies (TRC-214) that the boys owned throughout the show shouldn't have existed yet as they were created in 1985
The Crash
The song, "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by the Crash is a very important key to this show. There is one scene in particular where Will and his brother have a heart warming moment while listening to this song. Sadly, this song came out in 1986.
bike lights
There are many scenes when the boys are biking during the day, but why are the lights orange. Behind the Scenes, they explain that they were orange jellies that they forgot to take off during the day shots
Things you probably didn't know about Stranger things
1) MONTAUK - The show was originally supposed to be filmed in Long Island but the creators decided it was too hard to shoot something during the Winter, while the show was supposed to be called Montauk.
2) AUDITIONS - The Duffer Brothers actually auditioned 906 boys and 307 girls....that's a lot of people
3) THE NETHER - The real name of the upside down is actually THE NETHER, but on set the nickname was THE UPSIDE DOWN, so it just stuck.
4) THE MIND FLAYER - Although mentioned only a couple of times, the actual name of the SHADOW MONSTER is THE MIND FLAYER. Just like before, it's a nickname that just stuck.
5) CONVINCING - It took a 4 and a half hour meeting for the Duffer Brothers to convince Winona Ryder to play the role of Joyce Byers.
6) THE LIGHTS - In the original scipt of STRANGER THINGS, Jonathan, Nancy and Steve were the ones to communicate using the lights
7) FAKE BODY PRANK - Backstage and behind the scenes, The Duffer Brothers used the fake corpse of Will from the show to scare NOAH SCHNAPP'S mother. At first she was scared, but then found the fake body fantastic.
8) EPSON SALT - In the episode where they make Eleven a pool, the production DID actually use 1,200 POUNDS (544 KILOGRAMS) of Epson Salt
9) TRAIN TRACK MEAT - They used watermelon and raw beef for the meat in the train track scene.
10) DART - Dart is COMPLETELY CGI
